Editor’s Note: This is part 1 of a 2 part story about a Canadian born English teacher—currently living here in South Korea—who spent six months of his life deeply involved with the controversial Dahn Yoga. It was originally run in a 2006 edition of DDD Magazine. Part 2, the update of “Brainwashing or Enlightenment,” will appear next Monday, April 26 in 3wm.

    This is some sick stuff. When I lived in Daejeon I had a roomate who used to have literature lying around the house from these guys. It was in both English and Korean too. They actively recruit and take money from their victims. They make it seem like the way to a healthy spiritual life is to except this Ilchi Lee creep as some sort of savior. Thanks for the story.

    My Sympathy to the writer of this story I was caught up by a similar situation when I was living in Arizona. ‘Dahn’ is Asian so many people thik it is a Far Eastern healing knid of program. It is not. They abuse bodily and spiritualy. Stay away all. They are constantly under investigation.
